Personal Bible study is a reference to his particular method of carefully examining the Bible, the Word of God. We can not read the Bible by accident and hope to walk with great understanding of God's will for our lives and Christian growth.

The following are suggestions, based on my personal habits study of the Bible:

1. Pre-study. Here are three things you need before you open the Bible:

– Find a place where you can concentrate for fifteen minutes to an hour or any amount of time you will use for personal Bible study. Trying to watch TV and study at the same time not going to work (smiles).

– Have the tools of study, notepad and pen.

– We pray to the Lord to help you understand what is about to study.

2. Actual study. Use the three questions of the study and at least the four study tools to help take notes useful for the Christian life.

The three study questions are – What does the passage, what does and what it means to me? Answer the first question (ie, observation), to paraphrase or put in your own words what the passage says. You would do well to read the passage several times.

The answer to the second question (ie, interpretation) may require the use of study tools. I use the New International Version Study Bible Ryrie, The Bible, a good comment, and a concordance.

The study of the Bible have footnotes, diagrams, articles and other resources useful study in it.

The Living Bible is a paraphrase of the Bible that can be useful to see the general sense of the passage. But you would not use this word for the review deep in the word of the text.

A comment is a book of commentaries on the Bible. The concordance is an index of the Bible. You could look up a word in order alphabet in a match, and you'll find all occurrences of the word is found throughout the Bible.

The most important question is the last (ie application). This is where prayer is more important. Does not take much spiritual insight or connection to God through the first two questions. However, God's need help with the third question.

It is important to have some kind of notes, while the study of the Bible. Take note of the answers to three questions and everything that seems worthy of mention. Your notes will refresh your memory, when you want to re-examine their understanding of the approval given in the future.

Finally, leave time to be quiet and meditate on what you have read and what you're thinking. Pray and ask God to help you understand and live by His will for your life.

3. Post-study. After the closing prayer and books are far more reflection on what he has studied how it applies to what is going on in your life. The Bible is not simply a book about "then." It is a powerful way to speak to God About the "here and now."

Abstract, prepare for your personal Bible study with questions, tools, and notes. Take time to pray. And keep thinking about what God is saying to you about what's happening in your life.
