A crisis may have prompted you to take a Bible, hoping to quickly find words of comfort or guidance for the moment. If you've never spent time before Reading through the Word of God, it's likely that you came away empty-handed. The Bible is very rich but with inspirational Bible verses that guide us through all the circumstances we face. Writing covers topics as diverse as finance, fear, grief, parenting, purity, relationships and our responsibilities to God and man. Here are two years and not do to unlock the treasure found in the Scriptures so they are better positioned in the future.
1. Do not they just use the Bible as if the yellow pages. The search for consistency or the Internet to find a verse that speaks of his need shall little help if you do not read beyond this specific verse to understand the context in which it is used. Pledges will be of little consolation if you do not know the character of God. Many promises are conditional and may not apply to you.
2. Pass the time reading the Bible on a daily basis, not only when in a crisis. When I gave my life to Christ, I was in a church that encouraged personal Bible study day. The more I read through the Bible without touching previously sat on my bookshelf for years, the more developed an understanding of and hunger for the Word of God. Passages and verses he had heard or read Sunday school or church years before now came to life. I have to find and know Christ through the Scriptures.
3. They pray before reading the Bible. Ask God to help you understand the Scriptures, and to open eyes that I may see wonderful things in his word. We need the Holy Spirit to help us understand and receiving things of God (1 Corinthians 2:14-16). While you are reading, ask him to teach and help you apply the lessons to your life.
4. Do not start with the Gospel of John, then complete the rest of the books of the New Testament and then move to the Old Testament. In my first attempt at reading the Bible that began with Genesis. When I got to Leviticus I lost the fight. Someone Council shares this with me and my second attempt and after reading the Bible were successful.
5. Do not try to read different translations of passages that are difficult to understand. My favorite translation is the King James Version (KJV), as it is a literal translation It combines the poetic beauty of the King James Version (KJV) with modern English. For a serious study of the Bible follow the literal translations. Others include the version English Standard (ESV) and the New International Version (NIV).
6. Do not memorize and meditate on Scripture. This will help renew your mind (Romans 12:1-2) as you start to see the world from God's perspective and develop an eternal mindset. The Holy Spirit will bring a poem to his memory just when you need it (John 14:26).
The Bible has been called God's love letter to us. Reading through our experience of Christ and His love. If you start out without a personal relationship with Him, you will develop as soon see his need of him. God's amazing love for us was evident through the pages of Scripture. As you spend time in God's word, you will be changed. As a result, you will avoid many of the obstacles and pitfalls that would impact of his sin. In the next storm, you will know that you say fear is not with you and help you (Isaiah 41:10). You'll know who loves you more than imaginable. You know that He is sovereign. You know it is powerful and faithful. Inspirational Bible verses will be more meaningful to you. Knowing God of the Bible and make it a habit to spend time in the Word so that people know these truths before you are faced with the circumstance.
