Church Youth Group Activities

I felt ill-prepared to manage such a large group of youths. What should I offer? It took a while to find the answer to that question, but when I found the answer, my eyes opened to a whole new world.

I learned that the best leaders of youth are those aged children of young people in their homes. This serves as a motivator for those of us who feel they are too old to understand or relate to youth. At least this is what I discovered for myself after assuming the leadership role of youth in our church.
My son was a member of the Youth group and I felt it would be a form of involved in your life. Most young children, mine included, found ways to stay away from their parents. I wanted to remain part of his life and understand what was happening. I think he would agree at this time we spent together in the youth activities drew us closer to each other.

Some of the things I've discovered and successes we have had as a group are not too good to share. It would be nice if I could tell I took this responsibility and was the reason for the successes, but of course I can not. No one person can take a company so huge and not have the support of other leaders to help direct as active, fun group impressionable.

After forming a council of youth for youth, teachers, parents and other leaders of our church, we started brainstorming about things to do for fun and things to do, where young people can learn. At a time when one of our sessions, a teacher commented they had a Saturday Night Live in a church I attended years ago.

Of course, we wanted to know more. His description of the event intrigued and inspired. After several planning sessions, was born our monthly Friday Night Live. It's hard to say who enjoyed the monthly get together again or youth leaders.

Our first Friday Night Live was experimental and was a great success. This is what we did.
Inserted black light bulbs in the light sockets in the room that you chose for the event. I would advise that the room you choose a room where food is allowed. Several of the young also provided black light poster. This served to give the room an atmosphere of enjoyment of youth.

We have placed several rectangular tables long rows, covering them with white paper and colored pencils placed along the boards. Young people who come early graffiti created on paper. Even those who arrive on time had the opportunity to create their art.

We encourage our youth to bring a guest or invite friends to attend. Our evening began at 9:00 pm He had spent most of the bedtime of the leaders, but we knew that the youths were injured just getting to that time. Upbeat Christian music Contemporary played in the background, a bit too strong for my taste, but just for youth.

We planned a talent show. The young people were to be the talent, but the teachers had a surprise for them. We planned a song. We are in the pantomime of Elvis Presley's I just want Be Your Teddy Bear.

We previously to build a platform, rather than canned light had we done it ourselves, yes, outside of the cans. We took the stage in pajamas and teddy bears grip. We tried to make a routine and most of us overacted. The young man laughed so it was difficult for us until the end, but we did.

This took some doing on our part. Most leaders were not artists, by nature, and we had to leave the step of our comfort zone. We found that although young people were delighted to see in a different light.

After talent show, we had games planned. Games as a tricycle race, bubble gum contest and child doing as many games. Everyone participated and seemed to enjoy the stupidity of it all.

After the games, we gather, the group sang a few songs and a guest speaker who spoke for fifteen minutes or less. This time it was time to encourage and strengthen youth and a time to present the gospel to young people who do not know Christ as their personal savior.
We provide a meal for them. The first night we had sandwiches, chips and junk food varied. Other nights will serve pizza, Mexican and Italian food.

A lot of work went into these events, but it was worth the effort. Those young people who have already gone to the adult phase of his life, are making positive comments on these fun nights Friday Night Live.

Another Friday Night Live various events in our presentation and planning, New Year's Eve event lasted longer than most of others. Our guest speaker shared the sanctuary and into the path of the New Year, which enabled young people to take turns calling our church bell.

I believe these events can be modified to fit any youth group. Our house was in a rural country church. The Saturday Night Live the leader talked to us about was in a larger church in the city. It takes much effort and a great imagination to get out of that event. So I think which is important for all churches regardless of size, have a youth council to help plan and prepare for the youth in our world. Please come and teach them, scares me to think so.
