In the Bible, sexual immorality is the most common sin warned them. Various sins listed in many places in the Bible, but the sins of a sexual nature seem to dominate them. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed due mainly to sexual immorality. Sex is a wonderful gift the Lord has given us, but through the centuries has been used not only occasionally, but also consume our minds, if we allow it. Sex plays almost every aspect of our daily lives on TV advertising, film, music and interaction of individuals at work, school and leisure activities. In our society, people have sex after are known only for a short time.
As a Christian, we have the power over sin, but are certainly not immune to temptation, so it is important to understand fully the consequences of those sins. The Bible describes the sexual immorality in many ways. In Leviticus 18 is a list of sexual sins that are called negligible. Then in the New Testament acts of impurity, orgies, adultery and homosexuality are also described as sexually immoral.
Now if you look at the consequences, we understand our actions will be judged. In Hebrews 13:4 tells us clearly that God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral people. Then in Ephesians 5: 3-5, Galatians 5:19-21 and I Corinthians 6:9-10 is going to say, those who indulge in sexual immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God. Not in the Bible once, but several times and by various authors. These are verses very powerful, especially when you consider that speaks to Christians in the early church. These teachings were given to people outside the church, but to those who called themselves Christians. God was serious about sexual immorality then as it is today. Christians have the power to overcome sexual sins, but to turn us from the temptations that surround us and follow the narrow path leading to eternal life.
Considering now how most Americans claim to be Christians, why is that there is so much sex in our society today? One main reason is our church leaders are not in that is sexual immorality and consequences. Surely there is tremendous outrage of Christians toward homosexuality and yes it is a sin. However, a Most Christians are not involved in sin, so is the language spoken by most because it is another. My guess is that in most churches there are people having affairs outside their marriage and others who have casual sex. Why not see the outrage with these sins? It lists homosexuality alongside in the Bible. The reason is that they are looking to themselves and inside these sins hit a little too close to home.
Another point is that the Bible tells us that if a person who calls himself a brother or part of the body of Christ, but is sexually immoral, we are not associated with them (1 Corinthians 5:11). Now we have to be careful not to judge, but if someone in your church is outwardly fall into these activities, due to distance himself from them. As a Christian, we must understand what sin are sex and severity in the eyes of the Lord.
